Circumcised Men May Be At Lower Risk of Genital Warts

A study has shown that men who are circumcised might actually have a lower chance of being infected with genital warts.  When it comes to risk factors, we know more about how and why women become infected with the human papillomavirus, the cause of genital warts, than we do about men.  However, this study followed 285 American men for 18 months.  At the end of that period, 29% had HPV at the end of the time period.  However, circumcised men who became infected were three times more likely to battle off the virus by themselves.  The reason for this is not yet clear, although it may be because circumcised men generally do not get skin abrasions while having sex.

You have misreported this study. It did NOT claim to find that circumcised men have a lower chance of being infected, but that they are no different.

It did claim to find they shake of HPV more quickly, but since only 34 of the men were not circumcised, and only about 10 of those contracted HPV, and they were only tested as six-month intervals (the median time it took HPV to clear), they could not possibly have found anything truly significant.

This was junk science (typical of the science supporting circumcision) and junk reporting of it.
