Many young women pass on the human papilloma virus because they say no one knows about the long term side effects. Well, Dr. Roger Yandell, who works at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, says that the side effects are not a reason to skip on the vaccine. Why? Because the dangers of getting genital warts or, worse, cervical cancer, are simply too high. A huge percent of all women—around 80 percent—will have HPV by age 50, and many of them will experience genital warts. Why deal with that? Few people have had any negative reaction to the HPV vaccine, and Yandell stresses that any woman who has not had sex or been exposed to HPV should get the vaccine immediately.
