Genital Shield May Prevent Genital Warts

Condoms cannot always prevent against genital warts because the affected area may not be covered by the condom.  However, a new device called the genital shield may be able to completely prevent the spread of HPV and other sexually transmitted diseases that the condom doesn’t always protect against.  The genital shield, worn by men, has two parts: a latex section covers the pubic hair and scrotum, and a separate condom-like cover attaches to it using connectors like those on a plastic bag.  This prevents any skin on skin contact that is the cause of transmitting genital warts and other diseases.  This new type of condom, if it catches on, could greatly cut down on STD transmission.
