Many people associate genital warts and other STD’s with teens or young adults in their 20’s or early 30’s, but it’s important to remember that even those in their 40’s or older can get genital warts. In fact, a recent study of STD’s in the Lothian region of Scotland shows that the over 40 crowd has stopped having safe sex. This study shows that, over the past decade, those in their 40’s and 50’s are now actually more at risk of catching an STD than the younger generations! This increase is attributed to an increase in divorce rates and the fact that there are greater ways for single people to meet. The study shows that cases of genital warts in men and women over 40 have doubled in the past ten years. This shows that it’s important to remember that genital warts can affect anyone regardless of age, and it’s always necessary to take precautions to keep safe.
